Hayranları inanamadı: Ünlü oyuncu yeni filmi için tanınmaz halde

Benny Safdie'nin yönettiği filmin başrolündeki Dwayne Johnson, bir yandan da bağımlılıkla ve evliliğindeki sorunlarla mücadele eden efsanevi MMA dövüşçüsü Mark Kerr'ü canlandırıyor. 

Johnson, 2021 yapımı macera filmi Jungle Cruise'daki partneri Emily Blunt'la bu filmde bir kez daha kamera karşısına geçti. Blunt ise Kerr'in eşi Dawn Staples rolünde. 

Tanınmaz halde

Heyecan uyandıran spor draması şu anda yapım aşamasında.

The Rock (Kaya) lakaplı Johnson, emekli karma dövüş sanatçısı Mark Kerr'e benzemek için neredeyse tanınmaz hale geldi. 

2025'te gösterime girmesi beklenen biyografik filmde Johnson, Kerr'ün 1990'ların sonunda iki kez UFC Ağırsıklet Turnuvası Şampiyonu olduğu halini canlandırıyor.

Filmde Dwayne Johnson'ın Kerr'e dönüşümü, iki Oscar ödüllü protez makyaj tasarımcısı Kazu Hiro'ya emanet edildi.

Hiro, geçen yıl Maestro'da Bradley Cooper'ı efsanevi besteci Leonard Bernstein'e, 2019 yapımı Skandal'da (Bombshell) Charlize Theron'u Megyn Kelly'ye ve 2017'de En Karanlık Saat'te (Darkest Hour) Gary Oldman'ı Winston Churchill'e dönüştürmüştü.

Tek başına ilk kez yönetiyor

The Smashing Machine, A24'ün Soygun (Good Time) ve Uncut Gems gibi bağımsız hitlerinde kardeşi Josh'la birlikte çalışan Benny Safdie'nin ilk uzun metraj yönetmenlik denemesi.

Benny Safdie, Christopher Nolan'ın Oscar ödüllü filmi Opppenheimer'da Blunt'la birlikte rol almıştı.

Johnson ve Safdie, proje için ilk olarak 2019'da bağlantı kurdu ancak pandemi nedeniyle ikilinin iletişimi koptu ve filmi beklemeye aldılar. 

Yıllar sonra Johnson ve Blunt telefonda konuşurken 41 yaşındaki aktris, 2002 yapımı The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr adlı belgeseli izlediğini söyledi. 

Belgeselden etkilenen Britanyalı oyuncu, Johnson'a "Bu filmi yapmalısın" dedi.
